Great Donnerkogel Climb

Difficult Climb: completed in 3 stages. Previous experience: moderate amount of experience in alpine mountain climbing recommended. You need to be fit enough to climb for at least 2.5 hours at a time. We recommend that you undertake the route from June to the middle of October
Start:Summit terminus of the Gosau cable car
To begin the climb: the walk from the Gablonzer Hütte (mountain hut) to Törleck takes approx 20 min.

Klettersteig Donnerkogel

This climb brings you to one of the loveliest peaks in the rugged Gosaukamm mountain range. The Grosser Donnerkogel (Great Donnerkogel) is also one of the highest (2055 metres). The climb of about 1100 metres and rock faces up to 400 metres high is completed in 3 sections of varying difficulty.

The Route: The first section is an easy to moderate climb via the Toerleck to the Kleiner Donnerkogel (Little Donnerkogel - 1919 metres). The traverse to the Grosser Donnerkogel is more difficult. Climbing the Donnermandl is described as difficult to extremely difficult.

Time needed: approx . 2.5 hours

Descent:Follow the marked trail back to the cable car terminus. Time needed: 1 hour approx. Last cable car back down to the valley at 16.50.
