time trials on the Krippenstein, 26th March 2011
This major ski event dates back to the 1950s and 60s, and has recently seen a revival! In the past, ski legends such as Ernst Hinterseer, Hugo Nindl and Willi Bogner have competed in this thrilling race on the Krippenstein.
The "Sekundenjagd" time trials were re-introduced in March 2005 and were a qualifier for the "Red Bull White Rush". And so this cool off-piste race earned its place among the top freeride contests in the sporting world. 70 international free-riders re-traced the tracks of great ski legends as they tackled the extremely demanding course from the hut on the Däumlkogl down to the finish line on the Schönbergalm.
Today's route is identical to the previous one, but with an additional challenge. In the 50s and 60s, contestants had to pass through approx. 80 pairs of marker poles. Now there are just 15, and so even the "wildest competitor" on this high-speed course will be pushed to their absolute limits over a short period of time.
As if this is not already a great enough challenge, the terrain is very demanding, and the course extremely long (covers 590 metres of altitude). Without any doubt, this is an event to test the best free-riders in the world!
