is to take place on 7th December 2012 in Bad Goisern. 700 "Krampusses" and demons, St Nicholasses and good angels will assemble once again in the market square in Bad Goisern for this annual event.
The Salzkammergut Krampus Place which takes place on 7th December in the centre of Bad Goisern is a much loved, traditional event which attracts visitors from near and far. This is a colouful display of intricately decorated masks and costumes with Krampus processions from many parts of Austria. This is an annual event which is growing in popularity amongst both participants and spectators.
Last year we had a record-breaking number of participants - more than 700, as well as several thousands of spectators. Preparations are already in full swing for this year's event. Lots of groups with colourful, eerie masks have already expressed their interests.
The Salzkammegut Krampus Parade on the 7th of December in Bad Goisern is an event not to be missed!
Events get underway at 5 p.m. with the festive "Folk Music Advent“ with entertainers and brass musicians. To keep the cold out, there are hot drinks on sale, including punch, as well as other snacks from the stalls organised by Goisern charity organisations. The children await the arrival, at 7 p.m., of St Nicholas, who has 500 gifts in his sack to give away.
The crowds eagerly await the arrival of the Krampus procession and the display of gruesome masks and costumes. Each group has its own special theme. Keep the 7th of December as a fixed date in your diary, and make sure you can join us in Bad Goisern for the Salzkammergut Krampus Parade!

The scene is a gruesome one on 5th December from 7 p.m. onwards. On this evening, the Krampusses from Hirlatz parade from Hallstatt's market square through the idyllic little passage ways of this World Heritage Site, and back again to the market square. St Nicholas goes with Krampus from house to house to visit the children. This begins in the afternoon, and both will be on the market square by the evening.
