Winter hiking trails

Winter hiking on long snow trails surrounded by nature and peace is a great opportunity to come to terms with oneself. The whole Inner Salzkammergut provides beautiful and cleared hiking trails virtually made for winter hikes. Up high in the mountains or in the protective valleys a more or less long walk is a most romantic winter experience.

• In the valley of Gosau and Goisern
  In Gosau there is one of the most popular trails going along the Gosau creek from the Vordertal to the Hintertal. Enjoy along this trail the trees of glazed frost and the steaming creek whispering a winter fairy tale. A wild romantic hike on cleared forest roads takes you from the Pass Gschütt to the Hornspitz lift. A breathtaking view of the Gosau valley and towards the Gosaukamm will make up for effort of the one and a half hour hike.
  
  In Bad Goisern the Tauernreiter trail along the river offers similar impressions, although not cleared but off the beaten track the Sole trail in Goisern presents itself also as a winter hiking trail.

• A winter dream in Hallstatt and Obertraun
  Obertraun’s mountain trail offers a wintry alternative to the rough slopes of the Krippenstein, and in Hallstatt snow tramping along the Waldbachstrub creek guarantees winter fun which warms up even the cold blooded! Although this trail is only cleared until the last house in the Erchen valley, a broad trail of many tracks will lead you through a dreamy calm winter world.
