The Goisern Mountain Hut is open throughout the winter months. The hut on the Kalmberg is always a welcome stop-off for visitors on ski tours, snow shoe hikers and even tobogganing enthusiasts.
From Gosau you can begin your tour from the Gschütt mountain pass. Just as in summer, follow the forest trail past the Iglmoosalm until you reach the so-called "Saugrube". Bear right here to join the winter and ski tour trails.
The route is perfect for ski tours and snow shoe hikers. Some people use the route as a toboggan run, at their own risk.
For those starting out from Bad Goisern on Lake Hallstatt, we recommend, for experienced ski tourers and snow shoe hikers, the route via the Hochmuth. You can also drive to the Hochmuth. From here, follow the same trail as you would in summer. You must, for your own safety, take notice of avalanche warnings when there is a lot of snow.
Kalmberg:
Depending on how much snow there is, you can often reach the summit of the Kalmberg. However, this stretch of the trail is only for experienced ski tourers and snow shoe hikers.
Opening times in winter:
24th December - 10th January open all the time. Open Saturday to Tuesday until the end of March (available to groups at any time with prior notice).
