"Glücksplatz" Koppenwinkel

A distance away from all the cars there are still little oases which bring good luck. The "Koppenwinkel" Nature Conservation Area at the foot of the Dachstein, which includes the "Koppenwinkelsee" and "Koppenwinkellacke" (small lakes) on the River Traun, is one of those fortune-bringing places to visit.

Deep in the heart of the Obertraun Koppenwinkel Nature Conservation Area, magical. bubbling little springs from the Koppenwinkelsee (lake) appear each spring. The Koppenwinkel is a moss-covered hollow surrounded by coltsfoot leaves nestling between the walls of the "Landfried". A quiet and tranquil place to visit.

Wild ducks can be seen swimming in the water. Enjoy listening to the birdsong and admire the reflections of the mountains mirrored in the lake. Young cattle can be seen grazing peacefully close to the Koppenwinkelalm pastureland. You will notice too the smell of refreshments cooking in the hut, and the grassy bank in front of the hut is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing break.
