100 Years of Dachstein World Heritage

100 years have gone by since cave explorer Georg Lahner first ventured into the depths of the Dachstein Giant Ice Cave. Throughout this last century, this largest subterranean ice-filled landscape has transformed the Inner Salzkammergut into a tourist magnet.

As many as 140 000 visitors marvel each summer at this natural wonder which has been sympathetically transformed by developers into a work of art.The Dachstein Cave World is a classic example of how nature, art and adventure combine in perfect harmony, with some artistic interpretation of what otherwise remains a perfectly natural environment.
