Runners from around the world will get together in Hallstatt on 6th May 2012 to compete in the inner Salzkammergut's mega sporting event.

The 25th "Sparkassen International Lake Hallstatt Race" will take place in the Inner Salzkammergut on Sunday 1st May 2012. The event covers part of the Hallstatt-Dachstein-Salzkammergut World Heritage Region and begins in Hallstatt. Competitors pass through Obertraun and then Bad Goisern before crossing the finish line in the centre of Hallstatt.
The first Lake Hallstatt half marathon took place on 17. May 1987 with just 187 competitors. Much has changed since then. Competitor numbers have increased significantly and the organisation team has grown in size. The organisation and services to competitors have reached international standards.
For the last several years, supporters and interested spectators have been able to watch the race from the other side of the lake. A boat carries passengers to the hanging bridge on the Eastern Shore Trail . The boat trip is of course free of charge! The awards ceremony on the historic market square in Hallstatt is always enjoyed by competitors and their families.
