Sights & World Heritage

The boat rides on the Hallstatt Lake have been available 1862, and the ferry service from Hallstatt to the railway station since 1881 – and this is the only boat connection in Austria maintained during the winter months.

Giant Ice Cave – one of the biggest ice caves in the world - extensive Mammut Cave and Koppenbrüller Cave – still traversed by underground streams – are particularly spectacular.

A journey through time from the beginning to the present day with a special focus on the mining in Hallstatt, the famous grave fields and above all the Hallstatt culture (800 – 400 B.C.).
