This mountain hut is the perfect stop-off point in summer and in winter both for skiers and mountain tours. The hut is open all year round.
The hosts prepare home-cooked, regional food specialities each day.
Route:
From Hallstatt - through the wild and romantic Echerntal valley. Allow about 4 to 5 hours to reach the "Wiesberghaus" (1884 m).
From the Wiesberghaus, you can follow a nature trail to the Gjaidalm cable car terminus. This takes around 2 and a half hours. Return to the valley by cable car.
A stop-off point along the way is the Krippenstein where you can visit the Five Fingers Viewing Platform. A stop further down towards the valley on the Schönbergalm are the Giant Ice and Mammoth Caves which are well worth a visit.
You can, of course, begin your tour in Obertraun. Take the cable car via the Schönbergalm and the Krippenstein up to the Gjaidalm. From here it is an easy walk to the Wiesberg House. Continue down to the valley. Follow the Echerntal Valley to Hallstatt.
