Whether you are a nature lover, a keen mountain sportsman or simply enjoy a relaxing walk high in the alps, the Gosau-Zwieselam high mountain pasture/plateau, located in the heart of the Salzkammergut, is the perfect location for you.
Majestic summits
There are many peaks to conquer in and around Gosau. The "Donnerkogel" and its "neighbours" provide plenty of challenges for hikers of all levels of ability and experience, and there are many more gentle footpaths for those who wish to take things a little easier. Traditional mountain huts serve home-cooked food and refreshments.
Rustic mountain huts and charming alpine pasture land
Cattle can be seen grazing peacefully here throughout the summer months. Relax and breathe in the fresh mountain air and enjoy traditional, home-cooked dishes in one of the mountain huts.
A breath-taking alpine panorama
Our region is as beautiful as a scene from a fairy tale, but it is of course reality! Enjoy the stunning alpine scenery all around you, and you too will have some amazing stories to tell.
Pushchair hire
Those who are too little to walk can still enjoy their beautiful surroundings from the comfort of a pushchair or pram. These are available to hire, free of charge, from the cable car terminus on the Zwieselalm.
Recommended hiking trails:
- From the cable car terminus on the summit down to the Gosau lake (1 hour)
- To the Stuhlalm and the Körnerhütte mountain hut (3 hours round trip)
- Circular route Zwieselalmhöhe, Jägerweg (2 hours)
- Along the Herrenweg trail to the main Gosau village (3 hours)
- Ascent to Gosau Hintertal (1.5 hours)
