No matter, if you select a guided adventure tour through the Mammoth Cave, unique insights into the nature around the Koppenbrüller Cave, singular ice-sound concerts in the Parcival Dome or a heavy surge of adrenalin on the ‘5fingers’ – a visit of the adventure world on the Dachstein is going to be a topic of discussion long after the event itself and is certainly going to unify the participants in a unique way.
Leave the daily office routine behind and plunge into the mystical world of caves, subterranean watercourses and eternal darkness – to groups, companies, but also individual explorers, the DACHSTEIN adventure world offers exactly such experiences which seduce them into the farthest interior of the Dachstein glacier. We provide the appropriate equipment from a helmet to a headlamp and the excellent adventure gastronomy on the mountain, as well as our range of hotels in the valley and on the mountain, ensure that even gourmets, widely travelled visitors and adventurers find what their hearts desire.
In order to offer a tailor-made programme to any group and occasion, prospects can choose among various guided tours which widely differ according to difficulty level and duration. E.g., a guided tour through ‘heaven and hell’ promises a group-dynamic event which is sure to be a topic of discussion long after the company excursion. Visitors are received at the valley station from where experienced guides accompany the group on a travel through the earth’s history and explain the properties of the millennia-old landscape, as well as of the regional flora and fauna. Perfectly equipped and on tracks isolated from the normal footpaths, the groups are led through the subterranean corridors of the huge Mammoth Cave. Here, visitors can hike in the traces of cave explorers to get to know the kilometre-long cave labyrinth from a close distance. Back again under daylight, participants can enjoy the sunrays and a rustic cave-explorer-brunch made of local specialties just in front of the cave exit.
Another highlight of the adventure world on and in the Dachstein are the ice-sound concerts in the Parcival Dome situated in eternal ice. Apart from the hours of the guided tours, e.g. in the evenings, special concerts can be organised in the most extraordinary concert hall of the world. By the way, in August, concerts are organised every Friday on a regular basis.
For companies and groups we also offer trekking tours through the smaller Koppenbrüller Cave in the valley. These tours lead you through the youngest of the three Dachstein caves and can be combined with biological excursions into the picturesque surroundings. Thus, they offer a wonderful insight into the nature below and above the earth. Naturally, all guided tours can be planned individually and adapted to the special demands of the organiser. Thanks to the unique underground location, they are absolutely weather-safe. In case of really filthy weather the ‘nasty-weather-station’ on the Schönberg Alp awaits you – its is a part of the provincial exhibition project ‘Dachstein-Explorers-Cave Bears’ – at which on the one hand, a carefully produced film about the caves viewed from the perspective of a bat is shown, and on the other hand, lectures and seminars take place.
And all those who cannot get enough adventure in the DACHSTEIN World Heritage can, of course, climb higher. From the peak of the Krippenstein, hikers get to the spectacular panorama platform ‘5fingers’ in only a few minutes. This steel platform in the shape of fingers, which stretches out into a 400 m-deep crevice, promises pure thrills, but also grand, deep views into the Interior Salzkammergut. Considering such a wide range of activities, there is only one solution – leave your daily office routine and inhale the genuine, fresh adventure air of the DACHSTEIN World Heritage.
