Start: Tourist Information Gosau. Head for the sports playing fields and down to the stream. Continue along the right bank until you reach the next bridge. Cross over here and bear towards Steinermuehle. At the next crossroads bear right and the next stretch of your route ( 6km) is mainly uphill until you reach the Schaeferalm. From here you continue ahead to the Grubenalm. Again continue straight ahead towards "Schlund" as far as the "Kaun" and then on to the Rossalm (1387m) mountain hut. This offers refreshments from June to October.

At this point you can make a diversion to the Schreieralm, but otherwise just carry on. Where you reach the fork in the paths, bikes must be carried (about 30 minutes). Pass the Durchgangalm and you will arrive at a "crossroads". Turn left here and you can get on your bike again and enjoy a long ride along the Echerntal valley to Hallstatt. Cycling along the asphalt road you pass by the Waldbachstub and the "glacier garden". After a total 27 kilometers you arrive at the famous lakeside town of Hallstatt. Take the main road out of the town and head for Gosaumuehle and then Gosau. It is possible now to turn off on to a forest track. After a further 3.5 km you must return to the main road for a short time until you reach the Klaushof. At this point you can rejoin the smaller road leading to the hunters' hut. Continue alongside the stream until you arrive back at the start!
