Trans-Salzkammergut

The idea to create a trip, divided into stages, across the whole of the Salzkammergut, was conceived by the famous Pate.There are two tempting variations. Both possibilities traverse many of the most beautiful parts of the region. Trans Salzkammergut Grand Tour and the Trans Salzkammergut Round Course.

The Trans Salzkammergut Grand Tour is a cross country traverse of the region divided into four distinctive stages. It begins at Bad Mitterndorf and ends in Gmunden. A total of 7.004 metres of altitude and a length of 294 kilometers takes you past nine lakes. With two overnight stays in mountain huts you visit many well known landmarks of the Dachstein region. From Lake Grundl to the so called Viehbergalm (mountain pasture), Hallstatt, Blaa Alm and "Hütteneck" to the so called "Ewigen Wand" Bad Ischl und Lake Traun, before you are transported back to the starting point. This is arranged for you.

The "Light Tour"is for those with a little less time. This variation is completed in three stages, starting from Bad Mitterndorf over the so called "Viehbergalm" and Gosau back to Styria. But the tour name is deceptive! It covers a total distance of 209 kilometers with 4.570 meters difference of altitude you also pass well known names around the Dachstein, such as Grundlsee and the so called "Viehbergalm", Hallstatt, Blaa Alm and the Hütteneck to the so called "Ewigen Wand", the "Gamsöfen", Bad Ischl and Lake Traun, you will need to be in good condition and have plenty of stamina!
