The Dachstein Round is the perfect mountain bike tour for cyclists who wish to be put through their paces. Relax and take time out to explore the magnificent scenery of this lovely part of Austria where the borders of the provinces of Upper Austria, Salzburg and Styria form a triangle.
There are 3 different variations on this circular tour of the Dachstein massif. There are detailed, accurate guides available with precise directions and technical advice and tips. Each tour makes for an ideal long weekend's excursion.
The original tour, which covers around 200 km and 5000 m in altitude is the "Blue" route around the Dachstein . This begins at Bad Goisern, and the route takes in the Pötschen Pass, the Viehbergalm, the Kulm, the Langeggsattel, the Edtalm and the Gschütt mountain pass. The "Red" version covers the same route, but is completed in reverse. This is a perfect opportunity to enjoy magnificent scenery from a different angle, and the uphill stretches are generally more strenuous. The "Black" route around the Dachstein contains more loops and curves. There are some challenging sections ideally suited to the more experienced mountain biker.
