From 12th to 19th January 2013 people in Gosau will look up to the skies for a very different reason (not just to check what the weather is like!) 30 to 40 brightly coloured hot air balloons will take to the skies, creating a magnificent display against a backdrop of snow laden trees and stunning mountain scenery. Teams will be competing for the annual International Alpine Trophy between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day.


"Hot Air Balloon Night"
Highlight of the event is the display of hot air balloons by night. This memorable occasion will take place on 18th January 2013. A stunning visual treat! Spectators flock to the Hornspitz ski lift car park and see how enormous flames create the hot air needed to inflate these huge, brightly coloured balloons. Watching the brightly illuminated giants lift off into the skies in a wonderfully orchestrated sequence is an experience you will never forget! A spectacular fire works display is the grand finale of this momentous occasion. Radio Oberoesterreich (local radio station) will be broadcasting live from the marquee throughout this "Balloon Fest. If you have ever wanted to enjoy a bird's eye view of the Salzkammergut yourself, now is your best chance! Dachstein-West "Snow Spectacle"

Enjoy the stunning Fire works display which is part of the annual "Night of Hot Air Balloons" Visitors from all over come to Gosau on this same weekend to participate in the ever-popular carving ski trials. When the sun disappears behing the mountains, things really get going in the marquee! Celebrate into the early hours with great music and lots of refreshments!
