Goisern Classic

Sunday 19th August 2012 - Bad Goisern Scenic Drive to the Predigstuhl Mountain Inn - 9th annual mountain race for drivers of vintage cars.

There has been an enormous demand for places on the start line in the last few years. The race, for both motorbikes and cars, draws an amazing collection of vehicles to Bad Goisern.

The route is almost 6.5 km long, yet the winners have completed the course each year with increasing speed. We are expecting some record times again this year, with some highly experienced competitors in both the motorbike and vintage car categories. The event begins on the market square, and the clock starts ticking about 100 m further on by Wiesinger's shop. The finish line is by the Predigstuhl Mountain Inn.

The event begins with a "sightseeing tour" which is followed by the two timed events. The aim is to complete, as far as possible, the two "laps" in exactly the same time. The winner is the driver from either category who completes the event with the smallest time differential.

Saturday 18th August 2012
18.00 onwards: Collect race number from the "Festsaal/Marktstube". Social event.

Sunday 19th August 2012
08.00 approx. Welcome address
11.00 approx. 1st round
13.30 approx. 2nd round
17.00 approx. Presentation of prizes on the market square

There will be a programme available to spectators both along the route and at the finish line. This will contain a list of competitors as well as details of the individual vehicles.

Last year, a guideline speed was introduced, and will be re-assessed this year. This guideline speed is considered appropriate to the character of the route, and competitors must adhere to this. This guideline speed is enforced for the first 1300 m, and is set for the competitors' own safety.
