The Gosau "Bergweihnacht" is based on time-honoured traditions and customs, and local handicrafts which have long since been forgotten.
The atmospheric surroundings of Gosau's Museum of Local Life with its full programme of lovingly planned events make this Christmas Market truly stand out from the rest.
There is no more idyllic an occasion than when the Gosau Brass Bands begin to play their Christmas music. Local folk groups and farmers' wives serve traditional home-cooked food, typical of Gosau. In addition, there will be Christmas cakes and biscuits on sale, hearty soups and wholesome bread, and many more culinary treats for you to enjoy.
The many exhibitors will be selling quality handcrafted goods, Christmas tre decorations, hand-tied Advent wreaths and much more. There will be an impressive selection of creative yet traditional hand-crafted goods for sale.
Family is extremely important to us. One exciting, fun event is always a horse-drawn sledge ride to one of the Gosau farms. Once you get back to the museum, the children can play and enjoy handicrafts or warm up in the "Christmas Cinema". Various children's groups from Gosau's School of Music will add to the festive atmosphere by performing Christmas carols and songs.
The "Family Lantern Walk" through the "Primeval Forest", with little surprises around every corner, will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of the event.
